Insomnia can be effectively treated with acupuncture and does not have any side effects
A clinical study showed a significant improvement in patients suffering from occasional, transient or chronic insomnia who were treated with acupuncture. This study also demonstrated that acupuncture is an effective alternative therapy with no side effects unlike the use of sleeping pills such as zolpidem, a sedative-hypnotic of the imidazopyridine class, benzodiazepine derivative (marketed as Stilnox and Zolpidem).
Another study has shown that acupuncture is effective in improving sleep quality as well as quality of life in postmenopausal women with insomnia.
